La Aurora Opens New Cigar Lounge In Dominican Republic
Fans of La Aurora Cigars have a smoky new destination to visit in Santiago de los Caballeros. The Dominican Republic's oldest cigarmaker has opened a cigar lounge at the Residence Inn by Marriott Santiago de los Caballeros. The hotel lounge had a soft opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony in late June and is now officially open to the public.
Comfortable and spacious, the new cigar lounge measures approximately 2,000 square feet and is located on the 11th floor of the hotel. Its central seating area can accommodate around 40 cigar enthusiasts. An outdoor balcony provides additional seating for eight guests and offers scenic views of the Cordillera Septentrional mountain range north of the city. A private room can be booked for meetings and business events.
The lounge’s walk-in humidor measures about 150 square feet and is stocked exclusively with cigars from La Aurora’s portfolio. Highlights include La Aurora Family Creed Series Perseverancia, La Aurora 107 Nicaragua, Fernando León Family Reserve and La Aurora Family Creed Series Fuerte Sol (the brand’s robusto size scored 93 points and earned the No. 24 spot on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 Cigars of 2025).
The lounge also features a rum and coffee bar with a menu designed for cigar pairings. Selections at the bar include La Aurora’s E. León Jimenes 110 Aniversario and E. León Jimenes 1903 rums along with its coffee brand, Kora Café. While rum and coffee are the focus, the bar also serves a range of spirits and cocktails for guests to enjoy alongside their cigar.
La Aurora’s president, Guillermo León, says that the lounge reinforces Santiago’s position as a major cigar tourism destination. “This space will enrich Santiago’s tourism offering while strengthening the tobacco culture that distinguishes us as a country and celebrates a tradition we have preserved across generations.”
The La Aurora Cigar Lounge is accessible to the general public. Patrons do not need to be guests at the Residence Inn by Marriott to visit and enjoy the lounge.
