A Diverse Lineup Of New Cigar Accessories From Les Fines Lames
Les Fines Lames specializes in unique cigar tools. The French company offers a twist on traditional cigar gear such as ashtrays, lighters, cases and cutters, but it also has a lineup of inventive products that double as jewelry pieces and cigar tools, including necklaces and bracelets. Now, the company's innovative portfolio is about to get even bigger. Les Fines Lames is expanding a handful of previous releases with new iterations that will be available in the coming weeks.
The Punch Bracelet from Les Fines Lames is one of the company’s more popular offerings. The stylish, beaded bracelets come with clasps that double as stainless-steel cigar punches, and they’re available in a wide variety of finishes and designs. Soon, the Punch Bracelet will come in an entirely different material: rubber. The same stainless steel cigar punch remains, but this time it’s joined by a FKM rubber strap and a secondary clasp that Les Fines Lames says was inspired by standard smartwatch configurations. The bracelet is adjustable from 14 centimeters to 24 centimeters, using the new clasp on the opposite side of the cigar punch.
The new Punch Bracelet - Rubber will be available in three finishes: Black, OD Green and Coyote. The suggested retail price for each bracelet is $79. “With this new strap and clasp, the Punch Bracelet wins in stability and adjustability, with a more discreet look,” says Xavier Ynna, head of design for Les Fines Lames.
Earlier this year, Les Fines Lames debuted its La Guillotine – Rotor cigar cutters. Typically, we’d advise avoiding guillotines from France, but these are worth consideration to cut your cigars. Plus, this cutter line is getting a new series added to the mix. The latest release is called La Guillotine – Vanguard, and it comes with new materials, leather and acetate. The design is slightly different as well, more rectangular in shape compared with the rounded design of the original. Plus, the opening on the new model where you cut your cigar has an octagonal shape, rather than circular, as found on the original model. The stainless-steel blades still cut cigars up to 80 ring gauge, and each cutter comes with its own black leather sheath.
The La Guillotine – Vanguard cutters will be available in two finishes: gold with tortoise shell acetate or chrome with Cognac leather. Each Vanguard will go for $120 a piece, compared to $79 for the Rotor.
The Le Tag cigar cutter from Les Fines Lames has multiple variations and functionalities. The thin guillotine cutters were originally fashioned as a cigar-cutter necklace. The Le Tag – Clip, introduced earlier this year, is designed to be part cigar cutter, part money clip. Now, there’s another piece joining the group: Le Tag - Card Holder, meant to serve as both a cigar cutter and a device to hold credit and other cards. Small and thin, the Le Tag - Card Holder is outfitted to hold the guillotine cutter in a snug leather pocket on the outside, with a separate opening in the middle for your cards. The Le Tag cutter is included as part of the product apparatus and is capable of cutting extremely thick cigars up to 100 ring gauge.
This model is available in just one, black leather finish, and it retails for $120. “Everyday carry accessories are for everyday smokers,” says Fabien Kerneis, head of communication for Les Fines Lames. “Le Tag is the perfect example, with options as a necklace, as a clip and now as a card holder.”
You may have noticed a growing trend in recent years towards concrete ashtrays, an industrial material not traditionally used in the cigar world. Les Fines Lames is part of the movement with its Monad and Dyad models, which are also available in aluminum and obsidian. Now, Les Fines Lames is adding a classical touch, using the more traditional (and even more durable) marble for its ashtrays. The company says each ashtray is cut from a solid block of marble, either Carrara from Italy or Verde from Rajasthan, India. No two pieces are precisely alike, as each piece of marble has its own intricate veining. The company calls the Mondad and Dyad Marble Ashtrays “the most refined object the brand has put its name on to date.”
The Dyad model can hold two cigars, whereas the Monad is designed to hold one, single smoke. The finishes vary depending on the region they were sourced from, white marble from Italy and green marble from India. The Dyad has a suggested retail price of $499, and the Monad is listed at $449.
Each of these products will be available through a network of roughly 700 partner retailers for the first six months, after which they will also be available on the company’s website. Les Fines Lames will be showcasing the new products next week at the annual InterTabac conference held in Dortmund, Germany. The six-month, retailer exclusivity window will run from September 30 to March 30, following the trade show.
